the fluharty family | shepherdstown, wv portraits.

My Mom works with a teacher named Meghan at a local high school. A little over a year ago, Meghan had her second baby, a little girl named Addilyn. As it happens, Addie's liver didn't work quite right and she needed a transplant. Meghan gave her part of her liver. Did you know that the human liver is regenerative? If you take a piece out, it will just grow right back? I think God is amazing that way, surely He knew we'd need liver transplants one day.

And Meghan, what a woman. What a wonderful mother. And oh, the support that flooded in! The people who loved and hugged and treated Addie are too many to number, but today, I want you to meet one of them. Stephanie was Addie's x-ray technician...but wait, I should back up and tell you that Addie just celebrated her One Year Transplantiversary and they hosted a spaghetti dinner fundraiser with a silent auction. I donated a portrait session to the auction and well, Stephanie won it.

And I'm so glad she did because then I got to spend the afternoon with her adorable family - Brian, Abby, and Kayden. Of course, I immediately had a soft spot for this little family because Brian is a firefighter and I know that firefighters make the best Dads; Abby is incredibly bright and sweet and can you direct you around Shepherdstown like it's no big deal, she can get to school without help, thank you very much; Kayden who is the ultimate little brother, cringes when Abby gives him photographer-directed smooches and sticks out his tongue when I ask for a smile; and Stephanie, the quiet force of nature behind the whole clan, tag-teaming it with Brian to wrangle in the troops. We had such a fun time.

Thanks for supporting Addie, ya'll! Enjoy the sneak peak.
